President Droupadi Murmu emphasized that the shared cultural heritage and democratic values form the cornerstone of India-Mongolia relations. During a welcoming ceremony for Mongolian President Khurelsukh Ukhna and his delegation at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, she highlighted that India and Mongolia are strategic partners, third neighbors, and spiritual allies. Over the past 25 years, India has initiated various cultural projects in Mongolia, including the restoration of Buddhist monasteries and the reprinting of ancient manuscripts. President Murmu expressed confidence that the memorandum of understanding on cultural exchange programs would provide a solid foundation for enhancing cultural interactions.
Expanding Bilateral Relations
On Tuesday, President Murmu stated that it is time to broaden the bilateral relations between India and Mongolia by integrating contemporary dimensions of cooperation. While welcoming President Khurelsukh Ukhna and his delegation, she reiterated that the shared cultural heritage and democratic values are fundamental to their relationship.
President Murmu affirmed that India prioritizes its partnership with Mongolia in development and capacity building, committing to the timely completion of ongoing projects that will symbolize enduring friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
Collaboration on Global Platforms
The President also praised the close collaboration between the two countries on multilateral platforms, including the United Nations, as members of the Global South. According to a statement released by the Rashtrapati Bhavan, both leaders agreed that it is time to expand bilateral relations by adding new and contemporary dimensions of cooperation, which would benefit the people of both nations.
President Murmu described this visit as significant as both countries celebrate the 70th anniversary of their diplomatic relations. She noted that over the last 25 years, India has launched numerous cultural initiatives in Mongolia, including the restoration of Buddhist monasteries and the reprinting of ancient manuscripts.
